Cooling Performance

As the Deepcool Genome is a case and cooler combined, we couldn't use our usual test gear without demounting its heatsink, which could render our usual gear useless for obtaining comparison numbers. Similarly, the cooling system can't be housed in another case in exactly the same way it is in the Genome case, which has been custom-made for the cooler; the centrepiece of the product.

So, to test the Genome we used different test gear, comparing the integrated cooler with the side panel off with a loosely mounted Corsair H105 as an 'open test bench' type to gauge the performance of the integrated cooler.

Secondly, we carried out tests with a graphics card to see how well the case cools it in a standard load test stressing the CPU and graphics card, before removing the side panel for comparative open air results. In a case with decent airflow, the results can be the same or even lower than an open test bench scenario. If it's higher, then cooling is considered average.

  • CPU: Intel Core i7-6700K overclocked to 4.4GHz using 1.3V vcore.
  • Graphics card: MSI GeForce GTX 1070 Armor
  • Motherboard: Asus Maximus VIII Ranger
  • RAM: 16GB Corsair 2,666MHz Vengeance DDR4
  • SSD: OCZ Arc 100 240GB
  • PSU: Corsair AX860i
We ran all fans at 100 percent, except for the GPU, which we allowed to run at its default settings. We ran each test for 15 minutes to allow the temperatures to settle before recording the results. The temperatures shown are the delta T, which is the temperature reported in the software (either CoreTemp or GPU-Z), minus the ambient temperature.
